Seventeen housing projects approved for foreign ownership in HCMC

HCMC – The government of HCMC has released a list of 17 commercial housing projects eligible for sale to foreign individuals and organizations, in line with current regulations.

The decision was made based on a proposal from the Department of Construction, with the agreement of the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, and members of the HCMC People’s Committee.

Those projects are spread across multiple areas, including six in the former Thu Duc City, four in former District 7, and three in former Nha Be District. One project each is located in the former districts of 4, 12, Tan Phu, and Binh Chanh.

Notable projects include the City Garden apartment complex, Dragon Village residential area, Tan Thang Sports and Residential Complex, CC1 and CC2 apartment buildings – part of the Nguyen Son housing project – and Cuu Long apartments.

Alongside the 17 projects open to foreign ownership, the HCMC People’s Committee has also identified four developments where sales to foreigners are prohibited.

These include Hung Vuong 2 – R13, Hung Vuong 1 – R16, and the Star Hill project in zone C15B—all in the former District 7—as well as The Prince Residence in the former Phu Nhuan District.

The HCMC People’s Committee has assigned the Department of Construction to publish detailed information on the approved projects on its official website.

The department is also responsible for inspecting and overseeing compliance at the four projects involving foreign ownership located in security-sensitive areas.

Any violations must be compiled, reported, and submitted with recommendations to the city government for appropriate action under current regulations.

In addition, the Department of Finance has been assigned to work with the city’s police to advise on investment approval procedures for housing projects, ensuring they do not impact national defense and security land-use planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision toward 2050.
