HCMC – Around 250 projects and facilities, with a combined cost of VND1.28 quadrillion, were inaugurated and got off the ground simultaneously today, August 19, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day.
A ceremony, held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Hanoi and broadcast live to 79 locations across 34 provinces and cities, featured 89 completed projects and 161 groundbreaking events.
According to Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan, state funding covers 129 projects with a combined value of VND478 trillion (37% of the total), while 121 projects worth VND802 trillion are financed by private and other capital sources. Five foreign direct investment projects account for VND54 trillion.
The projects span multiple sectors: 59 in transport infrastructure, 57 in industry, 44 in urban and civil works, 36 in technical infrastructure, 22 in social housing, 12 in education, 10 in healthcare, six in agriculture, three in culture and sports, and one in national defense. Eight are classified as national priority projects.
Key inaugurated projects include the National Exhibition Center developed by Vingroup in Hanoi and the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge.
Major groundbreaking projects include Viettel’s VND10 trillion research and development center at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, focusing on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and data technologies; the Ca Mau–Dat Mui Expressway and Hon Khoai dual-use seaport; and a VND79.8 trillion commercial-service and recreation complex in Danang City.
Other notable completions include the 1,000-bed Nghe An Oncology Hospital and the Hai Anh wind power plant in Quang Tri Province.
Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Tran Van Son said the projects are expected to contribute over 18% of Vietnam’s GDP in 2025 and more than 20% in subsequent years. They are also projected to support economic growth of at least 8% in 2025 and double-digit expansion during 2026-2030, while creating jobs and improving livelihoods.
