HCMC – HCMC plans to break ground on and inaugurate 10 large-scale projects to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, according to a directive issued by the city’s chairman and cited by the Vietnam News Agency.
Several key projects are scheduled to begin construction on December 19. Among them is the VND2.24 trillion HCMC Youth Cultural House redevelopment and Component 1 of the Beltway No. 2 project, covering a 3.5-kilometer section from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Street, with total capital of VND2.65 trillion.
Another segment of the Beltway No. 2—from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Pham Van Dong Street—will also break ground, alongside Component 2 of the first-phase HCMC–Moc Bai Expressway project, which requires VND2.42 trillion.
Additional projects in the pipeline include upgrades and expansion of the Hoi Bai–Phuoc Tan road (DT992) between National Highway 51 and the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway, as well as the VND3.72 trillion Nguyen Khoai bridge and road project.
A number of large-scale citywide initiatives will also commence as part of the celebration. These include Metro Line No. 2—running nearly 12 kilometers from Ben Thanh to Tham Luong—with total investment of VND47.89 trillion, and the dredging, environmental rehabilitation, and infrastructure development of the 8.8-kilometer Xuyen Tam Canal connecting the Nhieu Loc–Thi Nghe Canal with the Vam Thuat River, at a cost of VND17.23 trillion.
