HCMC – Thu Duc City and 10 districts in HCMC were at moderate risk of Covid-19 transmission from November 12 to 18, while 11 others were at low risk, meaning no district in the city was at high risk of transmission, according to the municipal Department of Health.
Districts 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, Binh Thanh, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Chanh and Cu Chi were pegged as low risk, while Thu Duc City and districts 3, 5, 10, 12, Binh Tan, Go Vap, Phu Nhuan, Can Gio, Hoc Mon and Nha Be were at moderate risk, the local media reported.
Two districts—5 and Phu Nhuan—upgraded their Covid-19 transmission risk level from low to moderate, while three others—11, Binh Thanh and Cu Chi—saw their transmission risk level change from moderate to low, and Can Gio, from high to moderate.
The whole of HCMC was still at moderate risk.
The city recorded over 8,400 new cases from November 12 to 18 and nearly 7,800 cases in the previous week. With 9.1 million people, the city had an average of 88.4 cases out of 100,000 residents per week, reaching the third level (from 50 to fewer than 150 cases per week).
As for the vaccination rate criteria, as of November 18, nearly 99.92% of residents 18 and older in the city had got at least one dose and 97.23% of people 50 and older had been fully vaccinated.
The city also has plans to reinstate Covid treatment facilities and ensure an adequate number of intensive care unit beds in case the citywide transmission level is at its highest.
Thu Duc City and districts have also set up pop-up healthcare stations and teams to take care of patients in the community and provide medical oxygen to health stations at commune, ward or town level.
As of November 21, HCMC had recorded nearly 456,400 Covid-19 cases in the current fourth wave of infections, which began in late April.
