HCMC – Thousands of visitors crowded Nguyen Hue Flower Street in HCMC on February 16, the first day of its eight-day opening for the 2026 Lunar New Year.

The flower street is open from 7 p.m. on February 15 to 9 p.m. on February 22. The horse mascot and large displays at the entrance and exit gates will remain on display until 9 p.m. on March 22 to serve residents and tourists.

Visitors moved slowly through the area to sightsee and take photos. The horse mascot display attracted the largest crowds, with many stopping to take pictures.

Families, groups of young people, and foreign tourists wore traditional ao dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress) during their visits.
Phan Yen, a city resident, said she arrived at 8 a.m. to avoid crowds but was surprised by the number of visitors. She visits the flower street every year and describes the atmosphere as lively, with many people wearing ao dai and taking photos.
Decorative scenes were built with detailed designs, and each section became a photo location. Maintenance and security staff worked in shifts to preserve the displays, trees, and decorations.
This year’s flower street combines fresh flowers with nighttime lighting effects, creating a display in the city center.
The Flower Street was first launched in 2004 under the direction of the HCMC People’s Committee and organized by Saigontourist Group with support from businesses. After 23 years, it has become a regular Lunar New Year destination for residents and tourists.
The 2026 event carries the theme “Spring Convergence – Stepping Forward with Confidence,” featuring displays reflecting the city’s development.
Organizers introduced two viewing experiences this year, with daytime floral displays and nighttime lighting and interactive technology transforming the space after dark.
