HCMC – Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet will operate seven flights to transport tourists stranded in Danang, the coronavirus hotspot, back to Hanoi and HCMC on August 13 and 14.

Tourists who had registered to return to HCMC had their samples taken for Covid-19 testing by the Danang Center for Disease Control on August 9. All of their test results came back negative a day later, Lao Dong Online reported.

Vietjet will cooperate with the competent agencies in Danang City to operate four flights from the central coastal city to Hanoi and HCMC to bring back these tourists, the airline said on August 11.

The two Danang-Hanoi flights are set to take off at 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on August 13, while two other flights will depart from the city to HCMC a day later.

Apart from this, Vietnam Airlines is planning to operate three flights to transport over 700 tourists back to Hanoi and HCMC on August 12 and 13, according to the website of the Ministry of Health.

Earlier, the Ministry of Transport had received a dispatch from the Danang government asking for support to transport 1,695 tourists in the city back home. Some 961 travelers need to return to Hanoi, while 734 others need to fly back to HCMC.

As such, the ministry asked the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to direct local airlines to map out solutions to bring them home and ensure Covid-19 infection prevention and control measures are implemented strictly, as regulated by the Ministry of Health.
