One new imported case sends Vietnam’s Covid-19 infections up to 951

HCMC – A 27-year-old man returning from Equatorial Guinea has been confirmed as positive for Covid-19, taking the total infections in the country to 951 as of this morning, August 16, according to the Ministry of Health.

The resident of Nghe An Province was put under quarantine after his arrival at Hanoi-based Noi Bai International Airport on July 29.

His fourth test result came back positive for the virus on August 14. He is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi City.

Among the 951 confirmed Covid-19 cases including 617 locally-transmitted ones, 447 patients have made a full recovery while 23 others have died of the virus.

Some 107,640 individuals are now under quarantine in Vietnam, with 4,015 people quarantined at local hospitals and over 24,490 others placed under quarantine at centralized centers.
