HCMC – Hanoi City has started preparing for a scenario in which 100,000 Covid-19 patients need medical care and treatment at a time, Hanoi Chairman Chu Ngoc Anh told the Government teleconference on January 5.
The city has called on all hospitals and relevant agencies and mobilized medical workers and students to join the treatment of Covid patients, the local media reported.
Besides, the city has established over 3,200 teams to monitor Covid patients receiving home care and treatment. The number of patients under home care and isolation in the city now stands at over 17,000.
To reduce the Covid death rate, the city has set up medical oxygen ATMs in many parts of the city and increased oxygen supplies for Covid patients at home.
In addition, pop-up healthcare stations in districts and towns have a total of over 30,000 beds for patients with mild or no symptoms.
Hanoi City has reported over 54,700 positive cases, with more than 22,700 of them having recovered from the disease.
Speaking at the Government teleconference, Hanoi Chairman Anh said the city was determined to fulfill the dual task of fighting the pandemic and ensuring socioeconomic growth and social welfare amid the Covid pandemic.
Hanoi City is switching to “safely and flexibly adapting to and effectively controlling Covid-19” and supporting firms to recover their business and production activities, contributing to the city’s socio-economic recovery.
As of January 3, over 98% of adults in the city have been fully vaccinated against Covid.
