HCMC – A new exhibition area at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in HCMC’s District 7 has been put into service, making SECC the country’s largest exhibition location.
Exhibition area B, which covers over 33,000 square meters and cost some VND900 billion, is the second phase of the SECC project, invested by Saigontourist Group and Phu My Hung Development Corporation. The three-floor facility is designed for exhibition, convention, dining and office services, apart from featuring storage warehouses and parking lots which can handle 220 cars and 440 motorbikes at a time.
Vo Anh Tai, deputy general director of Saigontourist Group, said that despite the impact of the Covid pandemic, the construction of exhibition area B, which began in 2019, had been completed on schedule.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, HCMC Vice Chairwoman Phan Thi Thang said that with the new facility put in use, SECC has become Vietnam’s largest exhibition location. It also meets international exhibition standards.
SECC, comprising exhibition area A, which was inaugurated in 2008, and exhibition area B, can now accommodate 1,000 booths and serve millions of MICE visitors. It is expected to earn over VND500 billion each year
Exhibition area A had earlier served over 50 exhibition events, nearly 7,000 domestic and international firms and more than one million guests.
