HCMC — Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HOSE: ACB) has received approval from the central bank to raise its charter capital by nearly VND6.7 trillion.
The capital increase will be conducted through a share dividend, with shareholders receiving 15 new shares for every 100 held. ACB plans to issue up to 670 million shares, raising its charter capital from VND44.67 trillion to VND51.37 trillion. The issuance is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.
ACB said the additional capital will support credit expansion, government bond investments, and long-term strategic projects.
ACB reported pre-tax profit of VND4.6 trillion for the first quarter, down 6% year-on-year, due to interest rate support programs for customers. Its return on equity remained above 20%.
The bank’s outstanding loans rose 3.1% year-on-year to VND590 trillion, while total capital mobilization increased 4% to VND664 trillion. Its non-performing loan ratio fell slightly to 1.48%.
Closing the trading session today, May 12, ACB increased 1.04% to VND24,400, with nearly 9.2 million shares changing hands.
Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 1.26% on Monday, adding 15.96 points to close at 1,283.26 points, backed by strong gains in banking and real estate shares.
The Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE) recorded 200 gainers and 111 losers. Trading volume reached nearly 903 million shares worth VND21.64 trillion, up 19.5% in volume and 25% in value from the previous session. Block deals contributed 49 million shares valued at VND1.17 trillion.
The VN30-Index rose 19.79 points to 1,372.04 points, with 27 bluechips advancing. TCB gained 6.5% to close near its ceiling price of VND29,400 per share. It contributed 3.2 points to the main index and led the group in liquidity with 46.7 million shares traded.
Other banks also posted gains. SHB rose 1.9% with 84.7 million shares changing hands, the highest on the market. VPB added 2.1% with 36.5 million shares, MBB advanced 1.3% with 34.7 million shares, and TPB jumped 5% on volume of 34.3 million shares. VCB closed flat.
Real estate stocks rebounded. VIC rose 3.8%, while GVR, BCM, and KBC gained between 3.4% and 4.9%. Other property developers such as TCH, DXG, DIG, and HHV also improved.
Securities stocks ended mostly higher, though gains were modest. VIX and SSI rose over 1%, with trading volumes of 29.5 million and 20 million shares, respectively.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index increased 1.91 points, or 0.89%, to 216.04 points. The bourse saw 104 winners and 56 losers, with 56.7 million shares valued at VND937 billion changing hands.
