HCMC – AIA (Vietnam) Life Insurance Company Ltd. (AIA Vietnam) has made a commitment to offer financial assistance worth a maximum VND23 billion to doctors and medical workers on the frontlines.
Any healthcare workers diagnosed with Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, in Danang, Quang Nam and some other provinces will be provided VND10 million each, while those unfortunately succumbing to the disease will be entitled to a donation of VND100 million.
“Thousands of heroes in white uniforms are on the frontlines, constantly fighting this devastating virus. This sacrifice cannot be measured. With this decision to provide financial aid, we want to express our appreciation and companionship to all those doctors and medical staff, with the hope of working together in solidarity in the fight against the pandemic,” said Wayne Besant, CEO of AIA Vietnam.
This financial support is part of the extended financial assistance program, worth up to VND23 billion, which AIA Vietnam has pledged to allocate to frontline doctors and medical staff.
The recent rapid, complicated and unpredictable situation of the Covid-19 epidemic in Vietnam has posed significant risks to the country’s health system. With the aim of protecting medical staff, doctors and healthcare workers participating in epidemic prevention, AIA Vietnam has agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Health to extend this special financial assistance program from July 1 to December 31 and to expand the target applicants of the program.
The target of the program is open to all doctors, nurses, technicians, pharmacists, and volunteers among others who are currently working and have direct labor contracts with participating hospitals, medical facilities, testing facilities, and field hospitals.
Each of the frontliners who are found to be positive for Covid-19 during the program period will receive a one-time grant of VND10 million. Meanwhile, the those who unfortunately die of the virus are also entitled to the financial support worth VND100 million for each.
This special assistance program will come to an end either when the total amount that AIA Vietnam has pledged reaches VND23 billion, or by the end of December 31, whichever comes first.
