HCMC – Local carrier Bamboo Airways’ Flight QH1592 from HCMC arrived at the Dien Bien Phu Airport in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien this morning, December 3, making it the first flight to link the two localities.
With this new service offered by Bamboo Airways, it takes passengers only over two hours to travel between HCMC and Dien Bien by air. There will be five weekly flights operated on the route, with tickets priced from VND159,000. The flight frequency will be increased based on the travel demand from passengers, reported Thanh Nien newspaper.
Earlier, passengers from southern cities and provinces who wanted to fly to Dien Bien only had the option of taking connecting flights through Hanoi, with a flight duration of up to nine hours that would tire many passengers, especially the elderly and children.
Aside from shortening the travel time from nine to two hours, the direct route linking HCMC and Dien Bien is expected to reduce the Covid transmission risk when passengers are in transit at busy airports.
