HCMC – Airfares on domestic routes have risen by around VND500,000 to VND3 million, given the increasing travel demand during the upcoming holiday of September 4.

A survey by the Saigon Times Group on August 14 showed that several Vietnamese airlines have raised their ticket prices for the Hanoi-Phu Quoc route to between VND3.6 million and VND6 million for travel dates from August 30 to September 2, doubling the usual rates.

For the HCMC-Hanoi route, the average round-trip ticket price now ranges from VND3 million to VND5.4 million, a rise of about VND500,000 to VND1.2 million compared to regular prices.

To accommodate the heightened travel demand, Vietnam Airlines plans to expand its flight schedule during the four-day holiday period. The airline is expected to operate nearly 2,500 flights, offering half a million seats on both domestic and international routes.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has called for efforts to ensure passenger safety and convenience during the holiday period. It has also directed airlines and travel agencies to collaborate on developing programs and flight plans to key tourist destinations, thereby supporting the tourism industry.
