HCMC – Airfares on the routes to popular tourist destinations in Vietnam have increased sharply, with many flights already fully booked as the national holidays of April 30 and May 1 fast approach.
Vietnam Airlines has announced to revise up airfares for the Hanoi-Phu Quoc route, departing on April 27 and returning on May 2, with a round trip costing VND8-9 million.
Tickets for many other flights on the same day have already been sold out.
Bamboo Airways is offering the lowest fare of over VND6.3 million per round-trip ticket, while Vietjet Air’s fare is nearly VND6 million per round-trip ticket on the same route.
On the Hanoi-Danang route, Vietnam Airlines flights are priced at around VND5 million per round-trip ticket, while Vietjet Air’s is VND4.1 million per round-trip ticket at the lowest.
Ticket prices of flights from other provinces and cities to Dalat have surged dramatically this year, ranging from VN5 million to VND6.8 million per round trip ticket. On regular days, they are only priced from VND1.2 million to VND2.5 million.
On the Hanoi-Nha Trang route, the lowest airfares offered by Vietnam Airlines are at over VND7.16 million, by Bamboo Airways at almost VND6.5 million, and by Vietjet Air at around VND5.85 million per round-trip ticket.
Vietnamese air carriers plan to operate more flights to meet the high travel demand during the upcoming Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1) holidays.
Vietnam Airlines Group, including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO, said that the number of flights would increase by around 35% over the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Vietjet Air has provided an additional 152 flights per day, with 27,600 seats for passengers traveling to tourist destinations such as Danang, Dalat, Phu Quoc and Dong Hoi (Quang Binh).
Bamboo Airways is planning to increase its domestic flights by 15%, focusing on the Hanoi-HCMC/Danang routes and routes to Phu Quoc, Nha Trang and Quy Nhon.
During the peak season from April to August 2023, Tan Son Nhat International Airport will be able to handle 948 aircraft movements per day. Currently, airlines have confirmed having 843 airplane movements per day, with just over 100 slots per day left, mostly at night.
