HCMC – The escalation of military conflict in the Middle East, particularly involving U.S.-Israeli operations against Iran, major international carriers have begun suspending services to the region while Vietnamese authorities have ordered immediate rerouting to ensure flight safety.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has issued an advisory to all airlines and air traffic management units, requiring them to steer clear of high-risk conflict zones. In response, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and other domestic airlines have adjusted their regular routes between Vietnam and Europe, including flights to Paris, Frankfurt and London to bypass the airspaces of Iran, Iraq and surrounding Gulf nations.
Although these adjustments may extend flight times by approximately 15 to 30 minutes and increase operational costs, airlines emphasize that passenger and crew safety remains the non-negotiable priority.
In the international level, key international hubs, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha, are experiencing severe operational constraints. Consequently, a wave of global airlines – including Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, Air France and Emirates, all of which operate flights to and from Vietnam, have announced the temporary suspension or significant modification of flights to and from the Middle East.
To minimize risks, the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) is actively coordinating with international agencies to provide real-time updates and alternative flight paths. Passengers traveling between Asia and Europe are advised to closely monitor official airline websites and social media channels for the latest schedule changes as the geopolitical situation remains highly volatile.
