HCMC – Contractors are racing against time to finish work on nine pedestrian bridges that will connect with the elevated stations of Metro Line No. 1 by September.

The bridges are nearly 80 meters long and 3.5 meters wide, featuring roofs for added protection. They are crucial to ensuring safe and convenient passenger access to Metro Line No. 1, also known as Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien urban railway.

The construction of these bridges has presented challenges, particularly in integrating them with existing infrastructure along Hanoi Highway, including drainage, telecom, and lighting systems.

The Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR) of HCMC said that architectural elements for five out of the nine pedestrian bridges, linking Tan Cang, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, Binh Thai, and High-Tech stations, will be completed by the end of this month.

The bridges at Thao Dien and An Phu stations are scheduled for completion in August, with those at Thu Duc and Vietnam National University HCMC stations expected to be done in September.

Alongside the pedestrian bridges currently under construction, the pedestrian bridges have already been connected to the elevated stations at Suoi Tien and Van Thanh.

Stretching nearly 20 kilometers with three underground and 11 elevated stations, the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien railway costs a total of around VND43.7 trillion.
