HCMC – The An Phu interchange project is running behind schedule due to poor management and weak contractor performance, according to the HCMC People’s Committee.
City authorities said the project management board failed to monitor and address underperforming contractors, while several construction units did not meet requirements. Oversight by the Department of Construction and other agencies was also insufficient.
The chairman of the city’s People’s Committee told the HCMC Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Projects to submit written commitments on progress and take responsibility before city leaders.
The investor has been urged to accelerate work to ease traffic congestion around the interchange. Key deadlines include completing the N2 overpass (package XL11) by December 31, 2025, and the HC1-02 underpass (package XL06) by January 15, 2026.
Launched in late 2022, the project carries a total investment of more than VND3.4 trillion. To date, construction has reached over 70% completion. The N2 overpass, which allows vehicles to turn right from the HCMC–Long Thanh Expressway onto Mai Chi Tho Street toward Vo Nguyen Giap Street, is around 55% complete.
