HCMC – Over 9,470 flights scheduled by local airlines were delayed in April this year, accounting for 42.5% of the total, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
Data from CAAV showed that Vietnamese carriers, including Vietnam Airlines Group (Vietnam Airlines, Vasco, Pacific Airlines), Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, and Vietravel Airlines, operated a total of 22,295 flights in April 2025.
Vietnam Airlines operated 9,352 flights in April, achieving an on-time departure rate of 69%. Vietjet Air ran 10,763 flights, with just 43.3% departing as scheduled.
Bamboo Airways posted the highest punctuality among domestic carriers, completing 1,045 flights with 80.8% leaving on time. Vietravel Airlines carried out 207 flights with a 71.5% punctuality rate, while VASCO completed 482 flights with 72.8% departing on schedule.
Pacific Airlines operated 446 flights, maintaining an on-time rate of 80%.
Flight delays accounted for a significant 42.5% of total operations in April, with 9,474 out of 22,295 flights delayed.
Vietnam Airlines recorded 2,892 delayed flights, representing 30.9% of its total. Vietjet Air saw the highest delay rate, with 6,102 flights delayed, or 56.7%.
Bamboo Airways had 201 delayed flights (19.2%), Vietravel Airlines 59 (28.5%), Pacific Airlines 89 (20%), and VASCO 131 (27.2%).
Late-arriving aircraft was the main cause of flight delays in April 2025, accounting for 59.1% of delayed flights. Another major reason was airline-related issues, which made up 30.8% of the delays.
