HCMC — Vietnam and Australia on December 4 marked the 10th anniversary of the Australia–Vietnam Human Resource Development Program (Aus4Skills), highlighting the initiative’s role in improving workforce skills and supporting the country’s long-term growth.
The event was co-hosted by the Australian Embassy and the Ministry of Education and Training with representatives from government agencies, Party bodies, program partners, and beneficiaries.
The program has helped strengthen workforce quality, promote inclusive education, and meet Vietnam’s evolving human resource needs — factors seen as essential for sustaining economic growth and global competitiveness.
Aus4Skills builds on decades of education and training cooperation between the two countries. Over the past decade, the program has provided scholarships, professional training, and institutional partnerships aimed at developing leadership and technical capacity. Participants have gained international expertise and practical skills to support innovation and lead reforms in key sectors.
Nguyen Thu Thuy, director general of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Education and Training, said the collaboration has contributed to strengthening postgraduate education, modernizing vocational training, and advancing gender equality and social inclusion.
“With thousands of officials and lecturers trained, Aus4Skills has helped build a lasting network between our two countries,” Thuy said. “We look forward to continued cooperation in the program’s next phase to promote education reform and develop high-quality human resources.”
Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Gillian Bird said the program has served as “a bridge connecting people, ideas, and opportunities” while empowering thousands of individuals through education and training.
Aus4Skills has supported efforts to modernize curricula, improve institutional governance, and align Vietnam’s higher education and vocational training systems with international standards. In vocational education, the program has helped strengthen industry partnerships and introduce new training approaches to ensure graduates gain skills that match employers’ needs.
The program has also expanded opportunities for women and disadvantaged groups, supporting Vietnam’s broader commitment to inclusive and equitable development.
