HCMC – To ensure safety during the repair of the Chi Thanh Railway Tunnel, Phu Yen authorities have re-organized traffic regulation on Thi Pass, situated above the railway tunnel, allowing only two-wheel vehicles to travel through the pass.

A landslide occurred in the Chi Thanh Railway Tunnel at around 10:30 a.m. on May 21, 2024, disrupting the North-South railway service. Local police have blocked both ends of Thi Pass on road DT.641, diverting cars to an alternative route during the tunnel repair, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

During the repair process, rail passengers are being transferred by bus between Tuy Hoa and La Hai stations to continue their journey, while 10 freight trains have had to temporarily cease operations.

The railway sector has not yet determined when the landslide incident at the Chi Thanh Railway Tunnel will be fully resolved.

When a section of the Bai Gio Railway Tunnel in Khanh Hoa Province collapsed due to a landslide in April 2024, authorities also implemented measures to prohibit trucks from passing through Ca Pass to reduce negative impacts on the reinforcement of the tunnel.
