Ba Ria-Vung Tau attracts 53 new local and foreign projects

HCMC – The government of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province today presented investment decisions and registration certificates to 53 local and foreign projects while calling for investment in 24 key projects this year.

Of the 53 projects, 26 involve local companies and have total capital of over VND71.06 trillion.

At an investment conference on the morning of May 30, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh and more than 250 local and foreign business executives, the southern province introduced 24 projects in four sectors: industry, services, tourism and urban development, and seaport and logistics services.

Notable projects include the Bac Chau Duc Industrial Park, Long Son LNG Power Plant, Vung Tau International Cruise Port, the 184.23-hectare Long Son General Port, the 3,764-hectare Cai Mep Ha Free Trade Zone.

Several large-scale urban developments are the 110-hectare Cu Lao–Ben Dinh Urban Area and the 1,389-hectare Go Gang Urban Area in Vung Tau.

Other key projects are the 420.45-hectare Bac Phuoc Thang Tourism Area, the 1,794.3-hectare Southwest New Urban Area in Ba Ria, and two trade, service, and logistics zones in Phu My.

To date, Ba Ria-Vung Tau has attracted 1,215 investment projects capitalized at a combined US$54 billion. Of these projects, 503 belong to foreign investors with total registered capital of nearly US$35 billion and 712 to domestic firms with total registered capital of around VND470 trillion.

Although accounting for just 0.6% of the country’s land area and over 1% of its population, Ba Ria-Vung Tau ranked sixth nationwide in gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in 2024. It also ranked fourth in budget revenue, and fifth in foreign investment attraction.
