HCMC – Bac Giang Province, emerging as a key player in Vietnam’s semiconductor industry, will require an estimated 6,300 workers in the sector from 2025 to 2030, according to the province’s Industrial Zone Management Board.
This demand includes 1,200 workers with college-level qualifications or higher and 5,100 unskilled laborers, reported the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).
Currently, the province is home to three semiconductor manufacturers: South Korea’s Hana Micron Vina, Si Flex Vietnam, and France’s Synergie Cad Vietnam. These companies employ 8,074 workers, including 175 foreign experts, 707 university graduates, and over 6,300 unskilled laborers.
Despite steady growth, Bac Giang faces a shortage of skilled labor. To bridge this gap, the province has set ambitious workforce development goals. By 2030, Bac Giang plans to train 3,000 educators and university students, both domestically and internationally, in fields related to semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI). Additionally, the province aims to produce 3,500 college-level workers, over 5,000 mid-level technicians, and 8,500 vocational and short-course trainees to support the growing industry.
The provincial Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs is collaborating with relevant authorities to develop policies that incentivize workforce training and development for the semiconductor and AI sectors during the 2025-2030 period.
