HCMC – Several banks have issued bonds with coupons ranging from 5.5% to nearly 8% per year, according to data from VIS Rating.
In the first half of this year, new bond issues totaled VND202.4 trillion, with banks accounting for 70%.
Commercial banks, including ACB, BIDV, MBB, OCB and VPBank, have issued bonds mainly for professional securities investors, with annual coupons of between 5.5% and 6.5%.
BVBank is offering 15 million bonds to the public with a coupon of 7.9%, while HDBank recently completed a VND1-trillion bond issue with a coupon rate of nearly 7.5%.
Agribank also issued VND10 trillion of bonds with a 10-year term and a coupon of nearly 6.7%.
These bond coupons are higher than the current 12-month savings rates, which range from 5.5% to 6% annually.
