HCMC – Chemical producer BASF and its co-sponsors have broken ground on a new school project at Phuong Ninh Primary and Secondary School, Phung Hiep District, Hau Giang province.
Located about 250 kilometers from HCMC, the school is situated in a remote district of Hau Giang Province in the Mekong Delta region. It was built in the 1990s and is in rundown and unsafe condition for its over 600 students, especially in hot weather and flooding season.
BASF and its co-sponsors are set to upgrade the school by adding four new classrooms and a playground, aimed at enhancing the educational experience for both teachers and students. The refurbishment will utilize products that meet Green Label Certifications, provided by Nippon Paint Vietnam.
This eighth project, facilitated by Saigon Children’s Charity CIO as part of its ‘School Building’ program, will benefit around 150 students annually upon its completion in the first quarter of 2025.
Speaking about this project, Erick Contreras, managing director at BASF Vietnam, said that it is especially meaningful this year as they celebrate the 30th anniversary in Vietnam. He also emphasized their ongoing commitment to this long-term program, partnering with key customers and business associates to nurture the nation’s future talents.
The project is also supported by BASF’s partners, including Hexachem, MKVN Chemicals, Sam Chem Sphere, and Tam Tran Co.
