HCMC – BASF Vietnam and its partners have completed a classroom and playground project at Ba Chuc Kindergarten in An Giang Province, benefiting about 40 children, the company said on March 19.

The new facility, covering nearly 300 square meters, replaces a preschool building constructed about 60 years ago that had deteriorated. It provides a learning space for children aged three to five in Ba Chuc Commune, near the Cambodia border.

The project is part of a program facilitated by Saigon Children’s Charity (saigonchildren) and supported by BASF, its customers, and other co-sponsors. It is the ninth facility delivered under the initiative since 2015, reaching nearly 1,000 students.

Erick Contreras, managing director of BASF Vietnam, said that the program aims to improve access to education in remote areas and reflects long-term cooperation with partners.

Funding came from BASF, individual donors, and companies including MKVN Chemicals, now part of Azelis, SamChem Sphere, Tam Tran Company, and Viet Duc Lubricants & Chemicals, along with local authorities.

The project used materials meeting Green Label certification standards, with decorative paints supplied by Nippon Paint Vietnam using BASF raw materials. Roofing panels provided by Phuong Nam Panel were designed to improve energy efficiency.

An Giang, located in the Mekong Delta, has a population of more than 2.1 million and an agricultural area of about 282,000 hectares, with paddy fields accounting for over 80%.

Separately, BASF Vietnam has implemented education-focused initiatives, including the BASF Kids’ Lab program, which has reached about 5,000 primary students since 2011. It also operates an online platform offering virtual chemistry experiments and has supported the construction of eight public playgrounds since 2019, benefiting nearly 32,000 children.
