The groundbreaking ceremony for the SORA gardens SC shopping center was held by Becamex Tokyu, the investor of the project, on December 28, marking an important milestone in the development of a series of key projects for the community in Binh Duong New City.

The ceremony was attended by Vo Van Minh, chairman of Binh Duong Province, and representatives of the province’s departments and agencies. Consul General of Japan Nobuhiro Watanabe, Chairman of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in HCMC Kohzo Mizushima, and representatives of multiple firms and partners also participated in the event.
Becamex Tokyu’s new project, the “SORA gardens SC” shopping center, which will be the first shopping center in Binh Duong New City, is set to be put into operation in the spring of 2023. The large-scale project will cover an area of over 120,000 square meters, marking the first step for the trade development at the Binh Duong New City gateway area.
“SORA gardens SC” with the message of “Beautifying their life” has a strategic lessee, the AEON supermarket. AEON Vietnam will introduce its new retail model for the first time, “Compact GMS”, at “SORA gardens SC”. The project will also be a leading entertainment venue featuring modern facilities such as a retail area, restaurants and cinemas, acting as a promising place to attract visitors from different areas and develop the city into a real, worthwhile living-working-entertainment place.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Binh Duong Chairman Vo Van Minh said that Binh Duong Province highly values the contributions of Becamex Tokyu, a joint venture of TOKYU Group and Becamex IDC, to the province’s socioeconomic growth.
“Every time I travel to Binh Duong Province from HCMC, I see several new buildings. This shows huge potential of Binh Duong for its development in the future. The “SORA gardens SC” project will open a new chapter of the urban construction in Binh Duong New City,” says Consul General of Japan Nobuhiro Watanabe.
Oh Dong Kun, general director of Becamex Tokyu, affirmed that the inauguration of a large-scale commercial center and the development of housing projects in Binh Duong New City will boost the urban development and further contribute to the growth of the city in the future.
“We expect the project to become a complex masterpiece for not only Binh Duong New City but also Binh Duong Province, contributing to the province’s growth,” he added.
Residents can enjoy modern life at Binh Duong New City
Binh Duong New City has been developed by Becamex Tokyu for 10 years, with an aim to create a Japanese-quality living environment which will have numerous outstanding projects in the fields of commerce, urban development and traffic infrastructure such as SORA gardens I&II, MIDORI PARK, The VIEW, the public bus system, the hikari restaurant chain and the bus rapid transit line.
In early December 2021, Becamex Tokyu broke ground for an apartment building project named “MIDORI PARK The GLORY” in cooperation with NTT Urban Development Corporation. “MIDORI PARK The GLORY” is a high-end resort apartment building project, which has 24 floors and 992 apartments. The project will be handed over in the first quarter of 2024. With hopes of creating “A cozy living place for upper classes,” Becamex Tokyu is developing a building equipped with various luxurious utilities.
After the lockdown period induced by the Covid-19 pandemic, in May this year, Becamex Tokyu completed the construction of the SORA gardens II project, a luxurious apartment building, in cooperation with Mitsubishi Estate Residence. The finishing-touch ceremony of the project was held on December 28, 2021. Many residents can enjoy a modern life in Binh Duong New City in the future.
