HCMC – Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) will begin toll collection on the Ben Luc–Long Thanh Expressway on August 10.

The toll rate is VND2,000 per kilometer for a standard vehicle. Electronic toll collection (ETC) systems will operate across all lanes.

Six toll stations have been set up along the sections already put in service. These include sections from the HCMC–Trung Luong Expressway interchange to the Nguyen Van Tao interchange, and from the Phuoc An interchange to National Highway 51.

VEC approved the toll rates in April and has completed system testing. As of June, nearly 30 kilometers of the expressway had been open, linking the former province of Long An, HCMC, and Dong Nai. The full 58-kilometer route will have four traffic lanes and two emergency stopping lanes.

The project got off the ground in 2014 at an initial cost of VND31.3 trillion, later adjusted down to over VND29.5 trillion. Funding came from official development assistance (ODA) from Japan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), along with domestic counter capital.

The expressway is expected to be fully completed in 2026. VEC said toll collection is needed to recover investment, support operations, and repay ODA loans.
