HCMC – The Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway project developer is on track to complete 55 kilometers of the 58-kilometer road by the end of this year, contributing to Vietnam’s goal of expanding its expressway network to 3,000 kilometers by 2025.

Construction of the expressway began in October 2014 and is scheduled for full completion by September 2026. However, the project faced delays due to changes in policies and funding mechanisms, leading to a construction halt from mid-2019.

After these issues were resolved, work resumed in 2022, with the project now being 88.23% complete, according to the Ministry of Construction.

Of the 16 contract packages, eight have been completed, and five more are expected to be finished in the second quarter, bringing the total completed length to 55 kilometers by year-end.

The Binh Khanh Bridge package is 88.25% complete and is slated for completion in August. Meanwhile, the XL-NG51 package, which includes the National Highway 51 interchange, began construction in February and is scheduled for completion in March 2026.

The Phuoc Khanh Bridge package is currently in the bidding process and is expected to be completed by September 2026.

The Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) is currently bidding for an electronic toll collection service, set for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025, while also assessing the timing for investing in a traffic management system.

The Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway connects the HCMC-Trung Luong Expressway and the Tan Hiep interchange of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway, with a total investment of nearly VND29.6 trillion.

On February 7, VEC temporarily opened two sections of the expressway, totaling 10.4 kilometers. An additional 33 kilometers is expected to be operational by April 30, 2025, with full-route completion targeted for 2026.
