HCMC – King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and the Queen of Bhutan will pay a state visit to Vietnam from August 18 to 22 at the invitation of President Luong Cuong and his spouse, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the visit, the King of Bhutan will hold talks with President Luong Cuong, meet with Party General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and take part in other important activities.
The visit comes as Vietnam and Bhutan enjoy positive developments in their friendship since the establishment of diplomatic ties on January 19, 2012.
In politics and diplomacy, Vietnam and Bhutan have exchanged delegations. In trade and economic relations, the two countries have made efforts to increase bilateral trade in recent years.
Vietnam has exported various goods to Bhutan, including timber, machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts, and other products.
Cooperation between the two countries in various other fields is seen as having significant potential for further expansion, particularly in agriculture, tourism, culture, education, science, technology, digital transformation, and green development.
