HCMC – Binh Duong Province has proposed using HCMC’s Long Binh depot for the initial phase of its first metro project linking Thu Dau Mot City with Suoi Tien Theme Park, reported the local media.

The proposal was submitted to the HCMC People’s Committee as Binh Duong works on a 32.4-kilometer metro line. The line would begin in Hoa Phu Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, and end at Suoi Tien Bus Station in Di An City, connecting to HCMC’s Metro Line No.1.

The route will pass through four cities in Binh Duong and include 19 stations. A new depot will be built in Phu Chanh Ward, Tan Uyen City, in a later stage.

The total investment is estimated at VND64.37 trillion. In the first phase, Binh Duong plans to build a 29-kilometer section, with the 3.4-kilometer link to the future depot to follow. This phase is expected to cost VND56.3 trillion.

The Long Binh depot covers 26 hectares. Twenty hectares have been developed for HCMC’s Metro Line No.1, with 30 train berths. HCMC plans to operate 17 trains, while Binh Duong intends to use 10.

At a meeting on March 12, HCMC’s urban rail authority and project consultants agreed with Binh Duong to share the depot temporarily. Once capacity is exceeded, Binh Duong will build its own facility in Tan Uyen.
