Biwase to establish new subsidiary

HCMC – Binh Duong Water-Environment Corporation JSC (Biwase, ticker: BWE) will establish a wholly owned subsidiary named Biwase Wastewater Treatment and Drainage Co., Ltd.

Biwase has approved a plan to establish Biwase Wastewater Treatment and Drainage Co., Ltd., with charter capital of VND30 billion. The company is expected to be set up in the second quarter of 2025.

Biwase now has 10 subsidiaries operating in clean water supply, waste collection, transportation and treatment, compost production, urban infrastructure services, power generation, electrical system installation, as well as architectural and engineering consulting.

Another notable move is that Biwase has registered to purchase 7.1 million shares of Vinh Long Water Supply JSC (ticker: VLW), aiming to raise its ownership from 0% to 24.57% of charter capital. The transaction is scheduled to take place from May 19 to June 12.

Closing the trading session today, May 28, BWE inched down by 0.96% to VND51,500, with 136,700 shares changing hands.

On the southern exchange, with support from Vingroup-affiliated stocks, the VN-Index maintained its upward momentum at the close, even as decliners outnumbered advancers.

The VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange today edged up 2.06 points, or 0.15%, against the previous session, to 1,341.87, with 139 gainers and 189 decliners.

Around 964.5 million shares worth VND22.42 trillion were traded, down 14% in volume and 10.4% in value. Of this, block deal transactions accounted for 56 million shares worth a total of VND1.26 trillion.

Within the Vingroup family, VRE posted the strongest gain, rising 5.53% to VND26,700 with 16.72 million shares traded. VIC followed with a 2.65% increase to VND97,000 on a matching volume of 6.15 million shares. These were also the top two gainers in the VN30 basket.

VIX recorded the highest trading volume on the market with 74.83 million shares matched, followed by SHB with 52.64 million, NVL with 46.88 million, and DXG with 33.81 million shares traded.
