HCMC – Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has hailed his second visit to Vietnam as a resounding success given the significant outcomes that further solidify the strategic partnership between the two nations. He emphasized his vision of fostering “unlimited cooperation” between Vietnam and Brazil to achieve shared development goals.

Speaking at a press conference before concluding his three-day state visit to the Southeast Asian nation, President Lula da Silva highlighted the immense potential for stronger bilateral collaboration.

Praising Vietnam’s impressive economic growth, the Brazilian leader said that two-way trade could surge to US$20 billion by 2030. Both sides agreed to establish a joint steering committee on economic and agricultural development to enhance strategic coordination.

President Lula da Silva expressed his strong interest in expanding business-to-business cooperation, highlighting Brazil’s commitment to acting as a gateway for companies in Vietnam to boost exports to the Mercosur bloc and Latin America.

He said he sees Vietnam as a vital bridge connecting Brazil to the ASEAN market with over 600 million consumers.

Another highlight during his visit was Vietnam’s decision to allow imports of Brazilian beef, a move that President Lula da Silva announced will be followed by Brazilian investments in beef processing plants in Vietnam. These facilities are expected to streamline exports of Brazilian beef across ASEAN.

He said that Brazilian businesses are prioritizing investments in food processing plants in Vietnam.

On the global stage, President Lula da Silva called for stronger coordination between the two nations in multilateral forums, such as the United Nations, while reiterating Brazil’s support for multilateralism.

To deepen ties further, he extended a special invitation to Vietnam to send a high-level delegation to the BRICS Summit and the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil in 2025.

Brazilian President Lula da Silva left Hanoi on March 29, concluding his state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnam’s President Luong Cuong.

The two presidents witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements between the two countries.

President Lula da Silva had separate meetings with Party General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

During these meetings, the Vietnamese leaders reaffirmed that Vietnam wants to deepen the newly established strategic partnership with Brazil.

Party General Secretary To Lam said Vietnam values Brazil as a key partner in foreign policy in Latin America.

During his stay in Vietnam, President Lula da Silva laid a wreath and paid tribute President Ho Chi Minh at the mausoleum in Hanoi, as well as laid flowers at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi.

As part of his visit, President Lula da Silva and PM Chinh attended and delivered speeches at the Vietnam-Brazil Business Forum.
