HCMC – The Ministry of Planning and Investment has confirmed that the Ca Mau airport expansion and renovation project is eligible for seeking investment policy approval from the prime minister.
This conclusion was detailed in an official letter recently sent to the prime minister, following a thorough review of the project’s investment policy.
The project will upgrade Ca Mau airport to handle larger aircraft, such as A320 and A321, and to support the region’s socioeconomic growth while bolstering defense and security in the province.
The project will include constructing a new runway, taxiways connecting the runway with the aircraft parking area, and an expanded aircraft parking area.
Another key aspect is the expansion of the existing passenger terminal to increase its capacity to 500,000 passengers per year. The terminal will have two floors, covering about 2,668 square meters, with a building height of 9.5 meters.
The total investment required for the project is estimated at around VND2,400 billion, which will be funded by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam.
The project is expected to be completed within 18 months after receiving approval for the investment policy.
Currently, the airport has a design capacity of 200,000 passengers per year, capable of handling aircraft like ATR 72.
