HCMC – Ca Mau Province in the Mekong Delta has reported its first suspected case of monkeypox in Dinh Binh Commune, according to local media reports.
The 36-year-old patient sought outpatient treatment at Can Tho Dermatology Hospital after having developed monkeypox-like symptoms. The patient visited the hospital on February 22 and is currently awaiting test results from the Pasteur Institute in HCMC.
The patient’s family has five members, including parents who recently returned from overseas and two siblings residing in Nguyen Phich Commune, U Minh District, Ca Mau Province.
Local authorities have taken swift action by tracing and monitoring individuals who had close contact with the patient. They have conducted disinfection procedures in the vicinity of the patient’s residence in Dinh Binh Commune to prevent the possible spread of the disease.
