HCMC – The Can Tho–Ca Mau expressway project is more than 97% complete, with asphalt work on the main route largely finished.

Remaining traffic-safety components—such as road markings, guardrails, and signage—are being installed. Contractors are deploying equipment and workers around the clock to ensure the main route is ready for operation by December 19, as directed by the prime minister, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The project is expected to be completed before December 12, meeting the timeline for opening the main section. The expressway is part of the eastern North–South Expressway program and is divided into two subprojects: the Can Tho–Hau Giang section and the Hau Giang–Ca Mau section, managed by the My Thuan Project Management Board.

The four-lane expressway requires a total investment of VND27.5 trillion. Construction began on January 1, 2023, with four civil work packages.

Subproject 1, stretching 37.95 kilometers, is more than 93% complete. Subproject 2 includes 73.2 kilometers of main route and a 16.6-kilometer connector road, and has surpassed 90% completion.

Contractors have mobilized 1,150 machines and 2,100 workers, operating three shifts and four working groups, aiming to complete the expressway on schedule.
