HCMC – Can Tho City has approved two key transport infrastructure projects totaling nearly VND14 trillion, including the expansion of the Can Tho–Hau Giang road (former National Highway 61C) and the Can Tho Climate-Resilient Transport Network Development Project, both scheduled for completion by 2030.

The upgraded National Highway 61C will four lanes and a total length of over 37 kilometers. Work will be carried out between 2025 and 2030 at an estimated cost of VND5.18 trillion, including VND3.56 trillion in loans from Japan and the remainder from local funds.

The climate-resilient project, costing over VND8.78 trillion, includes upgrading a 10-kilometer section of National Highway 61C within Can Tho and building a 25.5-kilometer road connecting the city with An Giang Province. Japanese loans are expected to cover around VND5.73 trillion of the total.

The projects aim to enhance regional connectivity in the Mekong Delta and strengthen Can Tho’s infrastructure against climate change impacts.
