CAN THO – The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho will build 1,397 social housing units this year as part of its plan to develop 16,900 such units between 2025 and 2030.
Under its 2021-2030 social housing development plan, the city targets at least 19,152 units for workers, public employees, and low-income households. From 2021 to 2024, 2,252 units were completed, reported local media.
Two projects started in May and August have provided 474 units. Another project is scheduled to start in October and will be completed early next year to meet the 2025 target.
The city is expediting construction and tightening quality control. It is also reviewing the housing needs of workers and officials affected by organizational restructuring to improve access to social housing.
