HCMC – The 13th Party Central Committee continued their meeting today afternoon to discuss and vote on candidates for the 14th Party Central Committee and the 14th Central Inspection Commission.

Party Central Committee members, who began their 13th plenum this morning, voted on official and alternate candidates for reelection to the 14th Party Central Committee and candidates for reelection to the 14th Central Inspection Commission.

They also voted on the list of official and alternate candidates for first-time election to the next Party Central Committee and Central Inspection Commission.

Later they had group discussions on six key topics, including the draft Political Report to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress; the draft report reviewing theoretical and practical issues from 40 years of the socialism-oriented Doi Moi (renovation) process in Vietnam; the draft report summarizing 15 years of implementing the Party Charter, to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress; the timeline, agenda, and program of the 14th National Party Congress; the working regulations of the 14th National Party Congress; and the election regulations to be applied at the 14th National Party Congress.

Central Inspection Commission has four new members

The Party Central Committee elected four more members to the 13th Central Inspection Commission, namely Nguyen Manh Hung, deputy secretary of the Hung Yen Province Party Committee and chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hung Yen Province; Major General Tran Van Phuc, member of the Standing Board of the Quang Ninh Province Party Committee and director of the Quang Ninh Police Department; Trinh The Binh, director general and secretary to a Politburo member and standing member of the Party Secretariat; and Tran Quoc Binh, director general of Department III under the Office of the Central Inspection Commission.

Do Trong Hung dismissed from all Party positions

The Party Central Committee approved Le Quang Huy’s request to step down from his position as member of the 13th Party Central Committee for personal reasons.

The committee also decided to discipline Do Trong Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, former deputy head of the Party’s Central Organization Commission, former secretary of the Thanh Hoa Province Party Committee, and former chairman of the Thanh Hoa Province People’s Council, by removing him from all Party positions.

Hung committed serious violations of Party regulations and State laws in performing his assigned duties, particularly in the prevention and control of corruption, wastefulness, and other negative acts. He also violated the Party’s code of conduct and rules on the exemplary responsibilities of Party members, causing very serious consequences, sparking public outrage, and damaging the reputation of the Party organization and local authorities.
