HCMC – Thousands of participants gathered on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street this morning, June 14, for the official launch of Cashless Day 2025, an event aimed at promoting digital payments and accelerating Vietnam’s financial inclusion agenda.

The highlight of the day was the Ting Ting Day Festival, a large-scale event recreating a fully cashless society. Visitors used QR codes, e-wallets, and contactless cards for everything from shopping and food purchases to games, check-ins, and prize redemptions.

For the first time, a special space for vendors from traditional markets was featured at the Cashless Day 2025 festival. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, aimed to promote digital tools among small traders.

The area recreated traditional market settings while introducing digital business methods such as livestream selling, QR code payments, e-wallet usage, and instant bank transfers. Traders received hands-on guidance to help them adapt to the digital shift.

Also debuting this year was the National Mid-Year Promotion Month, launched by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in conjunction with Cashless Day. The campaign runs from June 14 to July 14, and aims to boost domestic consumption through cashless payment incentives.

In a related announcement, the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade introduced the Shopping Season 2025, a citywide program focused on promoting non-cash transactions and stimulating local demand.

A seminar titled “Cashless Payment: A Driving Force for Digital Economic Growth” was held as part of the event. The event reviewed the implementation of the Government’s non-cash payment development strategy for 2021–2025, under Decision No. 1813/QD-TTg.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang emphasized the role of digital payments in advancing e-commerce, particularly in supporting small-scale vendors and modernizing traditional markets. She said the strategy should focus on two pillars: raising public awareness and developing digital infrastructure, coupled with skills training for market vendors to adapt to new consumption trends.

The program will also feature a highlight performance with an E-Concert set to take place this evening, June 14.

Cashless Day 2025 served as a platform to share updated insights into consumer behavior and reaffirm the country’s ongoing transition toward digital payments. The initiative supports broader goals in digital transformation, administrative modernization, economic growth, and inclusive financial access.
