The year 2024 continues to be marked by significant milestones for Central Retail Vietnam on its “green” journey, as the company actively collaborates to build a sustainable future for Vietnam.

At the end of September, Central Retail Vietnam was among the leading retailers participating in the“Green Growth Product & Service Exhibition (GRECO 2024) ” held at Nguyen Hue walking street in District 1, HCMC.

During the five-day event, the company highlighted its ReNEW strategy through a series of initiatives, including Reduce greenhouse gas emissions), Navigate Social Well-Being (community support), Embrace eco-friendly practices, and Effectively manage waste. These initiatives drew attention and left lasting impressions on local and international delegations and visitors.

Driving positive environmental change

2024 is seen as a standout year for Central Retail Vietnam’s green initiatives, with several projects being actively implemented in close collaboration with partners. Following the success of 2023, the forest regeneration campaign “Forests for Good – Vì bạn ươm mầm một Việt Nam xanh” continued in late September 2024 at the Tà Kóu Nature Reserve in Binh Thuan Province.

There, the leadership team, along with nearly 200 employees of Central Retail Vietnam and its partner P&G Vietnam, planted 1,000 drought-resistant native trees to combat desertification. For two years, the program has planted 14,000 trees across the country, spreading a message of environmental conservation to consumers.

At GO! Mall nationwide, Central Retail, in collaboration with Sparklo, has installed numerous modern reverse vending machines that collect and recycle plastic bottles and aluminum cans known as Sparklomats. By the end of 2024, 86 Sparklomats will be installed across all GO! malls nationwide, encouraging proper recycling and raising public awareness about environmental protection, contributing to a greener future for Vietnam.

Central Retail is also stepping up its commitment to using green energy. Following the installation of solar energy systems at 23 GO! Malls, Central Retail Vietnam signed a cooperation agreement with Tona Syntegra Solar (TSS) to expand solutions aimed at achieving the company’s NET ZERO target at its mini go! stores. This marks a promising new chapter where clean energy becomes a driving force in the company’s vision for a sustainable future.

In addition, Central Retail continues to participate in the Retailers Alliance to reduce plastic bag usage by switching to adopting 100% eco-friendly bags at checkout counters, promoting products with green packaging, and implementing programs like “No Plastic Bag Day” and “Bring Your Own Shopping Bag” to reduce plastic consumption and encourage sustainable living. The company also offers low-carbon-emission products and has introduced waste classification systems at GO! Malls.

With a firm commitment to sustainable development, Central Retail has set a clear roadmap and ensures that all activities adhere to the highest sustainability standards, signaling even greater achievements ahead.

Positive contributions to society

Supporting society and local communities is a key pillar of Central Retail’s ReNEW sustainable development strategy.

In September, in response to the devastating impact of typhoon Yagi on many northern provinces, Central Retail Vietnam quickly launched the campaign “Central Retail joins hands to support residents affected by storms in the northern provinces,” with active participation from employees of GO! Mall and Hypermarkets.

In coordination with local authorities, Central Retail distributed 10,300 essential relief packages to affected families in 12 provinces, helping them overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

These projects reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to improving the quality of education for local students and teachers. With these new additions, the “One Mall, One School” initiative now covers 14 projects, supporting nearly 8,000 students nationwide.

By 2024, the program had delivered nearly 30,000 Tet gifts, valued at VND5.5 billion. In collaboration with Vietnam Red Cross, the company aims to raise VND2 billion between 2023 and 2027 to provide nutritious meals for children.

As a responsible retailer, Central Retail is leading the way in building a sustainable future. This is not only a strategic move but also a strong affirmation of the company’s commitment to the community and environment, to create a sustainable future for next generations.

“Central Retail Vietnam is proud of the milestones we have achieved and remains committed to contributing to Vietnam’s sustainable development.
