The Central Highlands region of Dalat transforms into a poetic wonderland with the blooming of mai anh dao (Prunus cerasoides), the local signature cherry blossoms.
While flowers adorn many corners of the highland area, Cau Dat Tea Hill, 25km from downtown former Dalat City (now Xuan Huong – Dalat Ward), remains the most poetic destination, where delicate pink petals create a stunning duet with endless, emerald-green tea rows.
To celebrate this natural spectacle, the local government is set to host the “Mai Anh Dao Flower Festival – Dalat Spring 2026,” happening from January 15 to February 15. This month-long event is designed to meet the sightseeing needs of both locals and visitors, offering a series of immersive cultural activities, including tours of the best blooming spots across the city center and surrounding areas.
The festival’s spirit is best expressed at Cau Dat Tea Hill with the featured experience “Mai Anh Dao in the Land of Tea.” Here, the journey into the heart of the region takes visitors to the Ancient Tea Museum, housed in a factory established in 1927. Guests can explore a hundred years of history while enjoying the “Spring Convergence” festivities, which include tea-tasting sessions and traditional music performances amidst the hills.
Meanwhile, the “Cherry Blossom Dream in the Heart of the Valley” program at the renowned Valley of Love presents another romantic take on this seasonal bloom.
For the ultimate experience, early morning is the magic hour. Between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., a thick mist covers the hills. As the sun rises, the sky shifts into vibrant shades of orange, lighting up the majestic wind turbines and the pink ribbons of cherry blossoms winding through the tea plantation. Whether you’re sipping a hot cup of tea at a panoramic cafe or strolling under the floral canopy, Cau Dat captures the very essence of the local festive springtime spirit.
