Must read

Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam has officially inaugurated a US$136 million manufacturing facility at Phu An Thanh Industrial Park, Ben Luc, Tay Ninh, marking a major milestone in its 31-year presence in the country.

The plant is the first food and beverage facility in Vietnam to achieve LEED Gold Certification, underscoring Coca-Cola’s commitment to sustainable development and innovation.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior leaders from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Consulates General of the United States and the United Kingdom, the People’s Committee, and the People’s Council of Tay Ninh Province, along with other central and local government representatives and the leadership teams from Swire Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam.

Covering 19 hectares, the Tay Ninh plant is the largest of Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam’s three production sites. It features five advanced filling and bottling lines and integrates sustainable technologies, including energy-efficient lighting, optimized space cooling, and advanced heat rejection systems.

The plant is designed to utilize renewable energy sources. This includes a 6 MW rooftop solar power system and a 10-ton biomass boiler, which aims to replace traditional diesel and seeks to decrease reliance on energy derived from fossil fuels.

To help manage water resources effectively, the plant has implemented a system that recovers and reuses up to 89% of the water it processes in manufacturing. The reclaimed water meets production quality standards, helping minimize freshwater usage. Additionally, the plant has implemented the seamless “Wall-to-Wall” supply model, a strategic collaboration between Coca-Cola and Baosteel to supply can packaging. This initiative not only optimizes logistics operations but also conserves energy used in transportation.

Smart factory technologies such as warehouse simulation (digital twin), manufacturing information systems (MIS), and AI-powered safety monitoring (Intenseye) have also been implemented to boost operational efficiency.

Milly Cheng, CEO of Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam, said: “The inauguration of our new plant in Tay Ninh marks a significant milestone in Coca-Cola’s journey in Vietnam. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to be a hub where innovation meets sustainability — a testament to our belief in the immense growth potential of this market and our long-term commitment to its future. More than just an investment in infrastructure, it reflects our dedication to sustainable development and our aspiration to make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve across the country.”

Nguyen Van Ut, chairman of Tay Ninh’s People’s Committee, also expressed his optimism, “It powerfully reflects the strong confidence of the international business community, including investors from the United States and the United Kingdom, in Tay Ninh Province’s friendly, transparent, and dynamic investment environment.”

31 years of sustainable development milestones for Coca-Cola in Vietnam

Over the past 31 years, Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam has prioritized sustainable development, with a focus on packaging, water management, and community engagement. The company was a pioneer in launching bottles made from 100% recycled plastic (rPET) in Vietnam in 2022, and is a founding member of Packaging Recycling Organization Vietnam (PRO Vietnam). Since 2021, it has supported The Ocean Cleanup on the Can Tho River and, starting in 2025, has partnered with the UNDP through a US$15 million grant from The Coca-Cola Foundation to reduce plastic waste in Vietnam and eight other Asian countries.

On water stewardship, Coca-Cola and WWF have jointly implemented the “Water for Life” project in Tram Chim National Park (Dong Thap) since 2007.

Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam also promotes community engagement through its EkoCenter network and various initiatives such as EkoClimate (Long An), EkoSchool (Ho Chi Minh City), EkoArt (Hanoi), and EkoCircular (Da Nang). The company employs about 4,000 direct staff and 6–8 times more indirect workers through its operations and supply chain.
