HCMC – Vietnam’s National Assembly (NA) is scheduled to begin its ninth sitting on May 5, which will focus on constitutional amendments and mergers of provinces.
The sitting will be split into two sessions, with the first running from May 5 to May 28 and the second from June 11 to June 28.
The National Assembly Standing Committee outlined the proposed agenda for feedback from delegations and deputies, and asked the National Assembly for approval to adjust certain items of the sitting’s agenda.
Specifically, the proposal includes adding to the agenda the NA’s deliberation and decision on amending the 2013 Constitution.
It also proposes adding the consideration and adoption of 13 draft laws to further support the restructuring of the political system’s organizational apparatus, such as the revised Law on Organization of Local Administrations; the revised Law on Cadres and Civil Servants; the revised Law on Inspection; and others.
Other important matters have been proposed to be added to the upcoming sitting’s agenda, such as the merger of provincial-level administrative units, establishing the National Election Council, and electing its chairperson.
In addition, the sitting will review proposed adjustments to the National Land Use Plan for the 2021–2030 period, with a long-term vision extending to 2050, as well as the investment policy for the Quy Nhon–Pleiku expressway construction project, and the policy on providing state capital support to increase the charter capital of the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam, using funds from the state budget.
