HCMC – The Mekong Delta province of Long An is moving faster than expected in the construction of a HCMC Beltway No. 3 section that passes through the province.
According to the Long An Department of Transport, the province fullly disbursed public investment capital for the section in 2023. Since early this year, nearly VND290 billion of the allocated capital has been disbursed, representing more than 31% of the target.
The 76-km HCMC Beltway No. 3 links HCMC, Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Long An provinces, and has eight components. More than VND75,000 billion is required for the road.
Long An is responsible for components 7 and 8, which need VND4,200 billion to develop.
Shortages of sand, which result from the simultaneous construction of multiple infrastructure projects in the Mekong Delta, are a potential impediment to the timely completion of the HCMC Beltway No. 3 project.
