HCMC – The Ministry of Construction said the construction sector had achieved growth of more than 9% in 2025, meeting its full-year target.

Industries under the ministry’s management accounted for an estimated 17.23% of national gross domestic product (GDP), up about 0.17 percentage point from 2024. They contributed around 1.96 percentage points to overall GDP growth, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

The contribution helped push Vietnam’s economic growth to above 8% in 2025 and supports the Government’s aim of pursuing double-digit growth in the coming years.

The figures were released at the ministry’s year-end review conference for 2025 and the launch of tasks for 2026, held on December 21. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended and co-chaired the meeting.

The ministry said it had prioritized key tasks across its areas of responsibility and recorded progress in infrastructure development.

It reported the opening to traffic of the full North–South expressway route linking Cao Bang in the north with Ca Mau in the south. By the end of 2025, Vietnam is expected to complete 3,345 km of expressways, along with 458 km of interchanges and access roads. Total expressway length nationwide would reach about 3,803 km.

Other completed projects include 1,586 km of national highways and 1,701 km of coastal roads.

In aviation, the ministry said several projects were completed and the first flights landed at Long Thanh International Airport on December 19.

Private-sector capital mobilized for national infrastructure development was estimated at about VND3.84 quadrillion this year.

Vietnam also completed 102,633 social housing units nationwide in 2025, equivalent to 102% of the full-year plan.
