Coteccons is a major construction company that has executed thousands of projects across the North, Center and South of Vietnam. Since it regularly employs around 30,000 workers on its construction sites, Coteccons’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities are primarily focused on supporting these workers, besides its commitment to other social causes such as sponsoring children with cancer or reforestation projects.
Scholarships for workers’ children
For the past three years, many construction workers on Coteccons projects have felt happier thanks to the company’s Tet gifts and scholarships for their children. These small gestures provide great encouragement, helping workers feel secure and motivated in their jobs.
On August 9, Coteccons, in collaboration with Nhan Dan newspaper and the Saigon Times Foundation, awarded the Coteccons – Saigon Times Foundation 2025 scholarships to more than 200 students who are the children of construction workers currently working at 44 Coteccons and Unicons sites across the country.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Bolat Duisenov, chairman of Coteccons’ Board of Directors, said: “Currently, more than 30,000 workers are on Coteccons’ sites nationwide. Even if they are subcontracted workers – not directly contracted with Coteccons – they remain the solid foundation of every project. As we strive for billion-dollar revenue and international expansion, Coteccons never forgets that these 30,000 workers are our very first foundation.”
According to UNICEF and Vietnam’s General Statistics Office, Vietnam’s primary school completion rate is 98%. However, only 86.8% of students continue on to junior high school, and just about 58–60% graduate high school. This shows that junior high school is the most vulnerable stage, especially for children from working-class families.
The Coteccons – Saigon Times Foundation scholarship focuses on lower secondary students (sixth to ninth graders) with good or excellent academic performance, encouraging them to stay in school and pursue their dreams. Scholarship amounts include cash awards (VND2 million for excellent students, VND1.5 million and VND1 million for students with good and fairly good academic performance), along with certificates of merit and school supplies.
Through this program, Coteccons reaffirms its commitment to accompanying workers and their families, nurturing the dreams of the next generation.
Tet gifts for construction workers
In addition to scholarships, Coteccons also runs the “Building Tet” (Xây Tết) program, providing Tet gifts to construction workers. This program not only helps workers but also strengthens Coteccons itself, while calling on partner businesses to join in gifting workers.

On December 20, 2024, “Building Tet 2025” delivered thousands of Tet gift packages to workers at the Ecopark project site in Van Giang, Hung Yen Province. These were part of over 18,500 Tet gift sets distributed by Coteccons to workers at construction sites across the country from December 16, 2024, through January 2025.
For its sustainable community contributions, the Building Tet program surpassed 128 other entries to be honored in the “Community Idea” category at the Human Act Prize 2024, initiated by Nhan Dan newspaper.
2025 marks the third year Coteccons has organized Building Tet. According to Ms. Nguyen Trinh Thuy Trang, deputy general director of Coteccons’ Operations Division, during the first two years, the program attracted participation from over 1,000 project owners and subcontractors, 2,000 engineers, 1,500 volunteers, and 100 doctors. In 2025, Coteccons continued to receive support from partners such as Boss Coffee, Chocopie, Coop Mart, Suntory Pepsico, and others to provide Tet gifts for more than 18,500 workers.
Each Tet gift package is worth VND400,000–500,000 depending on the location. In addition, free health check-ups valued at VND800,000 to over 1,000,000 per worker are provided. The program also partners with hospitals to organize on-site medical examinations (general checkups, screenings, X-rays) leveraging mobile medical units, ensuring basic healthcare for workers.
Ms. Trang added that after several years of Building Tet, Coteccons is pleased to see other companies in the same industry organizing similar initiatives for their workers.
Planting tens of thousands of trees
On September 17, 2024, Coteccons, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of the then Tuyen Hoa District (Quang Binh Province) and local authorities, organized the planting of special-use forests in the buffer zone protecting the white-cheeked gibbon population in Dong Hoa, Tuyen Hoa. The project was funded through the GreenUP Marathon charity run.
Following the GreenUP Marathon’s green vision, for every 5km completed, Coteccons planted one tree on behalf of each runner. After two seasons (2022 in Quang Binh and 2023 in Binh Duong), more than 22,000 trees have been planted to restore protective forests in Quang Binh Province.
Continuing this tradition, in 2024, Coteccons committed to planting another 11,111 trees – including species such as Chukrasia tabularis, Erythrophleum fordii, Tarrietia javanica, Baccaurea sapida, and Anthocephalus chinensis – across 10 hectares of special-use forest in Tuyen Hoa of Quang Binh, following the GreenUP Marathon – Long An Half Marathon 2024 on August 24, 2024.
In addition to reforestation, Coteccons also promotes local livelihood projects, such as cultivating Solanum procumbens (a medicinal plant well-suited to local soil) among newly planted trees in early forest growth stages.
In the near future, Coteccons will continue by planting over 11,000 trees in Quang Tri Province’s special-use forests, funded by the GreenUP Marathon.
The GreenUP Marathon, founded by Coteccons, is held annually as part of its ESG strategy, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable development and a greener Vietnam.
Supporting children with cancer
In June 2024, Coteccons signed a sponsorship agreement with the Fund for Supporting Children with Cancer and the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Poor Patients.
Accordingly, Coteccons and its subsidiary Unicons pledged VND700 million in funding for the cancer support fund. At the same time, Coteccons also donated paint materials for refurbishing public facilities under the Association for Poor Patients’ programs.
This partnership is part of Coteccons’ sustainability strategy, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 11: building healthy collectives and resilient communities for a sustainable future.
Operating under the principle of a “Human-hearted Corporate”, Coteccons continuously invests in people-centered initiatives, including support for its employees and broader communities such as children battling cancer. Through these efforts, Coteccons aims to bring hope to Vietnam’s young generation, encourage them to overcome illness, and ease the financial burden on their families.
