HCMC – Dai Ngai 2 Bridge, which connects Can Tho City and Vinh Long Province, is set to open to traffic on December 19 as construction of the main span has been nearly completed.
According to the Can Tho Department of Construction, work on the primary structure is almost finished. Contractors are now completing handrails, expansion joints, and surface finishing to meet the scheduled opening date.
The bridge and its associated road components form a Class-A national road project with total investment capital of around VND4 trillion from the state budget.
Construction began in October 2023. The bridge is 862 meters long with 13 spans, including a 330-meter main span built using the balanced cantilever method. It is 17.5 meters wide and designed for four traffic lanes.
The project starts in Tieu Can Commune in Vinh Long Province and ends in Dai Ngai Commune in Can Tho City. Once in service, the bridge is expected to strengthen coastal road connectivity, improve goods transport, and support socioeconomic development in the lower Hau River region. It will also serve as a key transport link between the Mekong Delta’s coastal provinces and HCMC.
