Daikin Air Tower: Setting a new benchmark for the workplace of the future

Must read

Daikin Air Tower is positioned as a Technology & Partner Hub, serving not only as a workplace but also as an advanced smart office model that has simultaneously achieved three of the most prestigious green building certifications: WELL, LEED, and LOTUS at the Platinum level.

The project has been developed as a reference model, where Daikin’s technological solutions and green standards are directly implemented and tested in real-world operations, aligned with Net Zero objectives, before being scaled and shared with the broader market.

A key technical highlight of Daikin Air Tower is its Hybrid HVAC system, combining Chiller and VRV technologies to address both energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality. By utilizing chillers for base loads and VRV systems for variable loads, the building achieves an annual energy consumption of only 94 kWh/m², marking a 29% reduction compared to ASHRAE benchmarks (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers), thereby ensuring long-term, sustainable operational performance.

Beyond technological innovation, the attainment of WELL Platinum certification further underscores Daikin’s long-term development strategy in creating a high-quality working environment for more than 600 employees. The building places equal emphasis on physical and mental well-being, incorporating key factors such as air quality, lighting, and design approaches guided by Biophilic Design and Universal Design principles.

Building on this foundation, Daikin Air Tower was organized with a functional, floor-by-floor spatial strategy to support the practical application of WELL standards in daily operations. Level 6 integrates employee-focused amenities, including a canteen, gym, rest areas, and a children’s play zone. Levels 7 and 8 comprise flexible office-for-lease spaces of approximately 900 m² per floor, designed to accommodate diverse usage needs within a healthy working environment. Meanwhile, Levels 9 to 11 house Daikin’s corporate offices, furnished with high-end Okamura interiors that prioritize ergonomics and workplace efficiency.

Commenting on the significance of this milestone, Ms. Ikumi Inoue, representative of Nikken Sekkei, the project’s WELL design consultant and certification advisor stated:
“Daikin Air Tower becoming the first building in Vietnam to achieve WELL Platinum certification demonstrates that Daikin is not only focused on building performance, but is also genuinely committed to caring for the health and emotional well-being of its employees through consistent and long-term operational policies.”

Beyond its role as a workplace, Daikin Air Tower also functions as a hub for knowledge exchange and capability development, featuring exhibition spaces, B2B solution showcases, and a specialized HVAC training center. Through this integrated approach, Daikin is contributing to the establishment of a new benchmark for green office developments in Vietnam, where clean technology actively enhances human well-being and quality of life.
