HCMC – The Ministry of Health this evening, June 10, confirmed 961 fresh Covid cases, up 162 cases against the day earlier.

Hanoi recorded 181 new cases, followed by Bac Ninh with 77 cases, Phu Tho with 66 cases and Yen Bai with 65 cases. Other provinces had fewer than 50 cases each.

Today, 4,600 patients were confirmed free of the disease. Meanwhile, one new Covid death was reported in Tay Ninh.

Many provinces in the Mekong Delta currently have hundreds of thousands of unused Covid vaccine doses as their residents have returned to HCMC and Binh Duong for work, while others have been hesitant about getting booster shots.

Tran Quang Hien, director of the An Giang Department of Health, said on June 9 that the province had over 100,000 unused doses. Many people refused to get the third and fourth shots.

Duong An Han, deputy director of the Dong Thap Center for Disease Control, said that the center had two Pfizer vaccine batches left to administer the fourth shot, including 85,000 doses for adults and 64,000 doses for children.

According to a report by the Bac Lieu Department of Health, the administering of the third shot in the province was slower than expected as many people had returned to HCMC and other southeastern provinces for work and the remainder did not want to take booster shots.

According to the Ministry of Health, some seven million doses that the ministry has allocated to provinces have remained unused. Meanwhile, tens of millions of other doses have yet to be distributed.

Some provinces have been slow in receiving vaccines, while some others have even refused to receive vaccines.
