HCMC – Danang has lured 25 semiconductor companies in just over a year, up from the previous eight, as the city seeks to position itself as a technology and financial hub.

The firms specialize in chip design, testing and packaging, according to the Government news portal.

Eight universities and colleges in the city have launched semiconductor programs, enrolling 600 students last year with plans to raise that number to 1,000 in 2025. Authorities have also organized six training courses for more than 255 lecturers and students.

A Fab-Lab project worth more than VND1.8 trillion (US$71 million) has been launched to support advanced packaging technology, with an annual capacity target of 10 million products for domestic and export markets.

At the Danang Semiconductor Day 2025, Danang Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet said the city has approved a development plan for semiconductors and artificial intelligence, aiming to become one of Vietnam’s top three hubs in the field by 2030.
